Thanks so much to everyone who came and helped make this surprise for Amber a big success :) A shout out to my good friend Gel Colet of SWELL SWEETS for making this cute cake! Gel was also the one who made our wedding cake by the way!:) And to our dearest Amber, even if you had to wear your cyber goggles (because of your Lasik surgery), you still managed to make them look fierce! Hahaha! To a classy, sexy, and intelligent woman--HAPPY BIRTHDAY my love!!! You, Marcus and Hans will always be family to The Pats!
I was asked to be the bunny mascot host the much buzzed about launch of LE BUNNY BLEU in Manila last week. The event invite stated 4pm but the store was brimming with VIP guests, fashion bloggers, and magazine editors even before we officially started! It was the good kind of chaos inside the store---the girls were shoe shopping like mad! hehehe:) I couldn't wait to finish hosting too just so I could grab some pairs of Le Bunny Bleus for myself. I took home a very classic pair (as seen in the photo) with a hidden wedge and a pair of very stylish animal print sandals also. This store is definitely "FLATS HEAVEN" for flats lovers like ME!!!
"Shoe lovers unite and celebrate the arrival of shoe brand LeBunny Bleu in Manila! Originating in New York, LeBunny Bleu channels retro influences, showcasing New York City hipster cool and the effortless character of European style. An interesting twist to the brand is that all their styles are flat. The signature shoes run from classic to avant-garde and include oxfords, slip-ons, loafers, espadrilles, ballet flats, sandals, and fashion sneakers. This cult brand is popular on sites like Chictopia and Polyvore. It has been spotted on K-pop groups including Girls’ Generation, After School, and 4minute, and featured in magazines such as InStyle, Cosmopolitan, Nylon, Vogue Girl, and Allure."- Le Bunny Bleu PR team
Congratulations again to the gorgeous sisters Zerline and Mishi!
Thank you for bringing Le Bunny Bleu to Manila :)
LeBunny Bleu stores are at 5/F, Bridgeway, East Wing, Shangri-la Plaza Mall,
In the middle of a chaotic work week, my good friend Kelly arranged for a double date for the Fernandezes and Filarts. Unfortunately, my husband got stuck in a morning meeting that extended until lunch time so the double date turned into me third wheeling at Kelly and Carlos' lunch date. Hehehe :) It was nice to take a mandatory break from work to hang out with this easy-going couple. I was starting to burn out thinking of a million things all at once---case in point, I was about to head to Trinoma after lunch to host an event--it's a good thing Kelly reminded me that it was in Shangrila! Ano ba yan! Hahaha! Over lunch, Kelly, Carlos and I chatted about our newlywed mishaps, the chores we abhor, and the bills we despise. It's such a relief to discuss these things with fellow newlyweds, couples who are also starting from scratch just like us, it's validation that Patrick and I are "normal" after all. Hahaha!
We decided to meet at LA PETITE CAMILLE. Kelly received an invitation from the owners and said we should give it a try. I love Vietnamese food so it was an easy YES when Kelly suggested it!The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of the Greenbelt 5, within the line of restaurants.
Although the name sounds very French, you'll be surprised to discover that this is actually an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. "La Petite Camille started in the USA when its founder and creative culinary inspiration, Mama Fong, emigrated to the United States from Vietnam in 1992. Mama Fong brought with her her passion for cooking that finds its ultimate enjoyment in seeing her restaurant’s patrons enjoying the dishes she freshly prepares herself using her own unique family recipes. La Petite Camille is actually French for “little girl, Camille” which reflects the French culinary influence of Vietnamese cuisine as Vietnam was actually a French protectorate for many years prior to its independence."- La Petite Camille PR
The sunny yellow interiors was very inviting. We asked the waitress for her recommendations and ordered several dishes to share. Since their servings are quite generous, I say this would be an ideal resto for Sunday family gatherings or casual get togethers with officemates. You could enjoy your meals "family-style" by ordering a couple of viands and dishes which you could all sample freely. Here are the tasty dishes I would recommend for first timers at La Petite Camille :)
1) Summer Rolls: Something light but tasty to have as your starter. This is also great for those who are on a health conscious diet since it's NOT fried and packed with veggies!
2.) Beef Look Luck: Carlos loved this dish and I can imagine Patrick would love this too. It's satisfying and filling for a meat lover's tummy.
3.) Pomelo Salad: Here's another refreshing Vietnamese favorite! Indulge in the sweet and tangy pomelo chunks in a bed of lettuce with a special dressing.
4.) Fillet Catfish in Claypot: If you are looking for a fish dish with a bit of kick, this one's for you! The sauce is very flavorful so if you drizzle it over your rice---kaboom!!! Sarap talaga!
5.) Beef or Chicken Pho. This is the REAL DEAL. The perfect RAINY DAY comfort food especially after a crappy day at work!
FRIDAY: I braved the Katipunan traffic to host the first episode of the Lopez Digital Media Series 2013 featuring Carlos Celdran and the Guidon's finest. It was a very meaty discussion about social media and "slacktivism". I'll let you guys know when the episode is up online! Thanks Apa for this photo.
SATURDAY: I love weekends because that's when we get to hang with our friends and I get to take a break from cooking and cleaning! Yey!!!:) Saturday was an ultimate PIG OUT DAY for me and Pat. We started with brunch at Yushoken in Alabang with his amigos Joey and Dip. These three musketeers have been best friends since they were 3 feet tall, hahaha!!!:)
After lunch, We grabbed some Cold Stone Creamery at their newly opened Serendra branch.
Then we headed to Casa Enrile in Dasma for the BBQ despedida for our good friend Raffy.
Raffy we will miss you so much! We know God has amazing plans for you and we are confident that this will be life changing experience for you! We will save up to visit you in Singapore soon :)
From Raffy's despedida we zoomed to Rockwell, this time for Rondy's despedida. We had a vote off and Wolverine won over MY VOTE: Grown Ups. Sorry Adam Sandler, I was forced to ditch you for Hugh Jackman and his biceps. Rondy, we hope to see you back in Manila again soooooon!!!
SUNDAY: I accompanied Patrick and his parents to their family reunion today...but unlike other family reunions, this one was a bit more above average because it was the gathering of Jose Rizal's descendants! How cool is that? As you know my husband is part of the 5th generation under the Olimpia Rizal line. The highlight of my day was adding my name on the RIZAL CLAN FAMILY TREE! Our future kids will be 6th generation Rizals! WOW!:)
Mexican Dinner with the Filters and Pacis couples :)
Patrick is currently working on a video edit, it breaks my heart to see him hard at work on a Sunday but I'm glad we were able to maximize the weekend with our friends :) I hope you all had a great weekend!
A few days ago, Team Thirty Six O (headed by Patrick, Nico and our guest DOP Zach Sycip) shot videos of two of the most beautiful women in the archipelago and its surrounding waters (Aha!): Kelly Misa-Fernandez and Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio, who just happen to be two of my favorite girlfriends too! I know we all think that our "girlfriends" are beautiful---but you'll have to agree when I say Rica and Kelly are beautiful in the universal kind of "Oo nga! Maganda talaga sila!"or "Si, Son Hermosas" or "Oui, elles sont belles!". I used google translate to help me with my Spanish and French translations---o diba, sabi ko sa inyo universal talaga!!! Hahaha!
These videos will be up on their respective blogs soon---and here too of course! I can't wait for the grand debut :) In the meantime, here are some behind the scenes photos by our resident cutie pie photographer, Bea Marquez.
Team TSO shot using the powerful BLACKMAGIC cameras, now making waves in the film, advertising and video production world. Blackmagic Philippines chose to shoot Kelly and Rica because of their very interesting personas. These two were already well known, well established fixtures in the showbiz and modeling industry when they started blogging. Unlike most people who start their blogs just to become famous----these two girls were already FAMOUS to begin with and decided to create their own respective blogs to use their celebrity status to influence others positively. Through their websites you'll get a glimpse of their life on cam and off cam, their newlywed adventures, fashion and makeup tips, favorite restaurants, etc. Their blog entries are candid, genuine and refreshing. Bilang kaibigan nila, masasabi kong totoong tao sila at hindi sila apektado sa pagka-sikat nila :)
For this shoot in particular, I was happy to work behind the scenes as Patrick's personal assistant and alalay to my girls. As much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE my work which allows me to be in front of the camera, half of me also enjoys working on the other side. In fact, when I was a Comm major in college my dream was to be behind the camera because I've always had so much respect for the creatives (directors, segment producers, script writers, set designers, stylists, etc). I'm very lucky to be a talent and now even luckier to have a husband who owns a production company so I could exercise my creativity outside of the host/model spotlight from time to time.
I don't normally accompany Patrick when he has shoots, dahil mang-gugulo lang ako! Imagine me delivering knock knock jokes sa tabi habang nakatutok sa camera si Patrick?!? Chaos! Hahaha!:) Pat is also so blessed to have such an efficient and hardworking team. I'm so confident in Patrick and his solid army of workers, they always wow me with their videos:)
For this shoot, TSO partnered with the Chateau group of restaurants. We shot Kelly's video on the second floor of SIDEBAR, yep, if you scroll a few posts down you'll see my blog entry about this cool hang out spot. We shot Rica's video at the neighboring CAFE 1771, also located in the El Pueblo complex in Ortigas. This has quickly become a favorite because aside from their pretty interiors, their food is quite superb!
For lunch we sampled their best sellers including: Caesar Salad, Fried Squash Flowers (I was quite surprised with how much I actually liked this!), Spaghetti with Sardines and Fried Capers, Pasta Chorizo, Organic Chicken in Potato Crust, Lime Butter Prawns (my favorite!), Sauteed Sea Bream (the fried risotto was insanely yummy!)and the highlight of course: a mountain of Brownies & Muffins! Well plated and tastefully presented, the food tasted as good as they looked. Aside from their hearty meals, they're also famous for their desserts! They have a whole range of cakes and pastries---even some happy treats for the sugar conscious people like dieters and diabetics. I hear their breakfast food is awesome too, so maybe I'll take a trip back to Cafe 1771 one early morning!
It's a really pretty venue for a memorable birthday gathering, baby/bridal showers, or even corporate functions that would require a bit of dainty-ness and warmth. A big shout out to the wonderfully patient and accommodating manager and waiters who helped make our shoot very easy breezy :) :) Mabuhay kayo!!!To review their complete menu, visit the Cafe 1771 Facebook Page. Thank you also Ms. Vannah Santiago for arranging everything for us :) You're an angel!
It was a very productive work day---mixed with a bit of fun because we worked alongside our friends/coworkers. I promise you guys will get first dibs once their videos are up :) Stay tuned!
Thank you Toyota Philippines for inviting us to START THE FUN at the launch of the all new Vios. It's a very "pogi" car and I'm sure we'll be seeing more and more Vios-es in the streets of Manila (and the rest of the Philippines) soon. It was such a fun, star-studded party hosted by one of my ultimate idols and former co-MTV VJ Sarah Meier. Best of all, we got to meet Jojo the Love Survivor from magic 89.9's BNO! Hahahaha!:) Congratulations again to Team Toyota!

So, do you have any plans for AUGUST 3...say around 11-1130AM??? I have a suggestion...why not support dear old me?! BECAUSE I WILL BE A GUEST ON ANNE CURTIS' NEW COOKING SHOW on Abs Cbn!!!!!! I was trying to keep this a secret but when you have Anne Curtis sitting right smack in the center of that secret---that secret becomes nearly impossible to keep. The secret was looking at me with that "You know you want to blog about me...you know you want to!" Ang landi ng secret na 'to! Iba ka! So I just had to announce it to the world, especially to you my dear readers! Alam kong makikilig din kayo for me, diba?? :) :) Fist bump! Yeah Yeah Yeah! Although I try to avoid accepting work gigs on Sundays, this was too cool to say NO to. So we traveled all the way to the ends of the earth Quezon City to shoot for the Annebisyosa sa Kusina show last Sunday.
Anne's show revolves around the Del Monte Quick N Easy line and app. As the name suggests, the recipes are not at all intimidating. If you download the app via Android or iTunes, you just simply click on the recipe you like and you'll see the ingredients list and step by step procedures (with pictures pa!!! Hallelujah for newbie cooks like me! At least you'll have a reference to compare with). And because the app was developed especially for Pinoy home cooks, the ingredients are all available in your local supermarket or palengke. Just to keep the suspense (after all, binuking ko na nga yung "surprise") I won't be sharing the recipe here---you'll just have to watch on Aug 3 to find out what Anne and I prepared using the Quick N Easy app.
Ok, so this will sound totally fangirl-y (and you know I get starstruck very easily---remember my experience with Heart last April??? Face Palm!) but Anne is not only very beautiful, she is also such a genuinely nice person. I honestly was just giddy to be in the same room as her, that in itself was a happy moment for me. So when she actually took the time to engage in a decent conversation with me and Patrick in between takes, I was so appreciative of her kindness. And she even gamely took a photo with MaiMai (our favorite cleaning lady who comes in from time to time when I need major cleaning help and who happens to be a big Anne Curtis fan). For such a BIG TIME celebrity, it was so refreshing to see how down to earth she was. So kids----uso pa rin ang mabait at mapagkumbaba, being a diva is so 1995. Take note. Hahahaha!
To the Del Monte family, thank you again so much for this once in a lifetime experience! I just downloaded the app today and I'm ready to be the next Annebisyosa sa Kusina. On a personal note, I have been struggling in the kitchen for months---it was really my waterloo and my source of frustration but thanks to my husband's encouragement (and pagtitiis sa mga failed attempts ko!) and lots of practice, I'm slowly finding my groove in the kitchen. I'm glad Del Monte has come up with a show like this to inspire women (and men too!) like me who need a little gentle push in the cooking department. :)
MANILENOS rejoice!!!! The original G2000 is finally here! And you know what that means, no more hoarding in Hong Kong (guilty!). The first ever G2000 store in the country will be opening its doors to the public on July 23 at the 4th Level of Shangri-la Plaza Mall. There will be a fashion show featuring the latest collection at 5pm. Patrick and I got first dibs and did a bit of advance shopping already. Thanks so much to the super thoughtful RSSI group for sending these clothes to us!!!
They have the most flattering corporate/business wear collections---allowing women in their 20s-30s to still look their age but in a more polished and "I mean business" kind of way. The clothes are conservative when it comes to their hem lengths, necklines and silhouettes but still very figure flattering and fashion forward. If you don't want to look like a manang in the office---this is the go to brand for you!
I love, love, love their men's line. Patrick has always been a fan of their well-tailored suits and pants, in fact we just got him a G2000 suit set the last time we were in HK. It was a very good investment piece for him. However, they also offer clothes that are less formal but still very GQ-ish like long sleeved polos, jackets, and slim fit pants. So I guess we'll be seeing you guys at G2000! Happy Shopping folks! For more details, visit the G2000 Philippines FB page :)
ON PATRICK: Long sleeved polos and Gray Slim Pants by G2000. Sweater and Shoes from Pat's closet.
ON PATTY: Clothes by G2000. Accessories by Hey Jow.
The Thirty Six O family got a special invitation from the Chateau Group of Restaurants, dinner and drinks at SIDEBAR! How could we say NO to that?:) After hearing good reviews about this chill hang out, we knew a trip to Ortigas would be worth it. SIDEBAR is located within the El Pueblo complex, just along Julia Vargas in Ortigas.
I saw pictures of this place on various blogs before but upon seeing the restaurant for the first time I was really thoroughly impressed by their interiors. It's definitely a very posh hang out spot, perfect for a night out with friends and officemates with a more discriminating taste.
SIDEBAR is famous for their signature cocktails and drinks. Although I personally am not much of a drinker, I did enjoy their mojito punch and their lychee martini. The rest of the gang enjoyed their specialty drinks concocted on the spot by their skilled bartenders.
We also had our tummies filled with their yummy bar chows---small plates with BIG FLAVOR!!! My favorites include the Pulled Pork Sliders, Salbacho Pizza, The NEW Sisig Experience (we dared Marti to take the shot!), Sausage with Onions, Risotto Balls with Chorizo, and Gambas. Price points are fairly decent at 150-200++ for a small plate that packs a lot of punch when it comes to flavor. If you're in the Ortigas area, you might want to check this place out!
Thank you again so much SIDEBAR for hosting our Thirty Six O get together! A shout out to all the kind waiters and staff of Side Bar for their exceptional service. We'll be dropping by again real soon :)
