Bacolod Eats with the Grade School Gang

One of the perks of being Patrick Filart’s wife is having Patrick Filart’s friends. My husband is such a good egg, down to the core, that it comes as no surprise that he gravitates towards good people and good people gravitate towards him too. I have yet to meet a friend of Patrick’s that I’m not particularly fond of. He has different sets of friends from different social circles, age groups, and backgrounds—Pero lahat steady, magaan at masayang kasama, at mapagmahal.

Pat’s grade school buddies have got to be one of my favorite barkadas ever! They’ve known Patrick since he was an amoeba…or was he a paramecium?? Hahaha! They have endless kwentos of Patrick’s “bubble boy” phase (Yep, you guessed it right. He used to make bubbles out of his saliva! EEEK. At pinakasalan ko pa rin siya), liquid paper on his uniform, and other face palm stories of mischief. Whenever we’re with this group, we have to brace ourselves for the ab workout that we’ll get from all the laughing. We can spend hours on a topic that will branch out to even more non-sensical topics—and by the time we’re done we’ve covered about 50 issues and laughing while gasping for air. Even our Viber group is filled with kalokohan, I would have to explain myself ten times if someone outside our group would chance upon it. Hahaha!

So this is the group we spent a whole weekend with in Bacolod. And what did we do in Bacolod?????? WE ATE, ATE, ATE, ATE, and ATE AGAIN! Oh yes, we slept in between too. ANG SARAP KUMAIN kapag kasama mo ang mga ‘to! To give you a mental picture of how much we ate: The week before we left, I celebrated my return to my pre-baby weight on Instagram. “YEY! What a milestone! Hooray!” And then after Bacolod, I checked the scale and discovered that I gained it all back! I was pregnant with a FOOD BABY made of Piaya, Napoleones, and Chocolate Cake! Hahaha! I ate so much sweets, Patrick mandated a 2 week sugar fast for me (which I’m on right now, huhuhuhu!) just so I can still stay alive by Christmas. But I have no regrets, it was glorious gluttony all weekend long and it was absolutely wonderful! Here are some photos from our memorable trip 🙂 Special thanks to Tita Jing&Tito Dan Ramirez and Tita Lily & Tito Larry Munoz for graciously hosting our very big and noisy group!
