I distinctly remember my dad coming home from work one day saying “How come my officemate knows I always shop at the 88 peso store? I think she’s stalking me. Plus she said something about a blog. What is this blog thing?! Ano na naman yan!?” Of course, I completely disregarded my dad’s question because I was just too kilig with the fact that someone was reading my blog!!! Someone I didn’t know, a complete stranger, a random person..actually bothered to search my name and took the time to read my blog!!! My words actually matter! Wooohoooo!!!:) After my 5 seconds of solo-rejoicing, I proceeded to explain to my dad what the whole world of blogging was all about. “Dad, it’s like having a diary..it’s an online journal.” My dad, intrigued by this new concept goes, “Ahhhh. I want to have a blog too. I have lots of thoughts and opinions I’d like to share also!” At this point, I was laughing incredulously at the old man “Sino magbabasa ng blog mo?”to which he replies “Eh di mommy mo!”. And I could see my mom at the side of the bed trying to avoid eye contact with a “I aint reading your blog, mister” look written all over her face. Hahaha!
This year, I decided it was time to join a blogging community. It was time for me to make friends..and not just any new friends, but cool blogger friends. I’ll be honest with you, it was just so that I could be “legit” like them..I was tired of being a loser blogger with only my mom and dad reading my posts! It was time to rub elbows with the big guys! So I joined the Nuffnang Family last May and guess what, they actually seem to like me..like really, really like me. Not in a I like you because masarap yung baon mo at hihingin ko siya mamaya kind of like me, but the actual genuine liking of a person, ME!!!! The Nuffnang crew has been so supportive of my silly posts, so supportive in fact that they’ve managed to get sponsors on my blog to support my silly posts too! How awesome is that?! But on a more serious note, it’s been so great to feel the warm welcome of the Nuffnang blogging community. The Philippine blogosphere is fast becoming a legitimate form of media, with more and more people reading blogs than actual newspapers. And it feels good to be part of a team that promotes responsible and positive blogging. This is what separates Nuffies from all the others. I must warn you though, it’s important to practice discernment as a reader too..DON’T believe everything you read on the internet! PATTY LAUREL IS THE HOTTEST WOMAN ALIVE. Hay naku, naniwala ka noh?! Ano ba sabi ko?! Hindi ka kasi nakikinig! DON’T believe everything you read on the internet NGA, ang kulit! Be a responsible reader and we’ll try our best to be responsible bloggers too.
