I was having a really crappy week last week, I was down with this hard-to-beat bug which gave me six pack abs with all the heavy coughing. On top of that I had to go through some tests for my female bits, which is both nerve-wracking and uncomfortable. Thanks to my mom for accompanying me during my multiple trips to Makati Med. She chit-chatted with me to keep me from over-stressing about the thousand what-ifs and celebrated with me when the happy results came out. Apparently, I’m not too much of a mess anymore (in my reproductive system at least) since the doctor reported very hopeful news after my tests, indeed God has been healing my insides slowly but surely. My next prayer of course is for COMPLETE healing so I could start “realistically dreaming” about babies with Patrick..though I have to admit we’ve been dreaming about it even against all the odds for some time now. Dreaming with a broken heart ata ang tawag dun according to John Mayer. Hehehe. But we have a BIG GOD so we’re gonna dream as BIG and BOLD as we can! Yung topak sa ulo nalang daw yung problema ko and there seems to be no medicine for that, much to my husband’s dismay. Hihihihi.
I’ve often wondered how it must’ve been like living in the time of the Old Testament, where God made himself known in the most in-your-face kind of way. So you want an answer, huh?! BOOOOM. Burning Bush. So you don’t believe in my powers, ey???!? BOOOOM. Parting of the Red Sea. Although I still believe that God STILL works in mysterious ways even in the 21st century (you know God’s cool like that!) I’m more than happy to receive His Hi’s and Hello’s through PEOPLE. I get so blessed by PEOPLE through my random daily encounters: from janitors, security guards to restaurant servers, the staff and employees of my husband’s company, my students in Ateneo, my best friends, my churchmates, my parents, my in laws, our household help and extended family, and of course YOU–my readers!!!:) 🙂 🙂
Speaking of readers, about a month ago I received a very sweet and sincere letter from SAM, the boyfriend of one of my loyal readers, BERNICE. I always love receiving emails from my readers, but it just adds an extra kilig when I get letters from their husbands/boyfriends because it shows how much they care for their ladies—kahit na hindi siguro nila naiintindihan ‘tong girly blog ko, they make the effort to appreciate it to make their wives/gfs happy! Ang cute diba?! Here’s a little snippet of the letter Sam sent me.
I get a ton of emails in a day and I feel horrible because even if I try my very best, I just don’t have a lot of spare time to answer each and every one of your emails. Sorry folks!!! But God led me to open this email and it stirred something in my heart. I asked Patrick to read it too and he too felt something special about this couple and we both felt the need to make them feel appreciated, even in just a small way 🙂 In a nutshell, Sam asked us if we could help surprise his gf, Bernice, on their 1st year anniversary. He wanted a simple Meet&Greet–you know just like Barney in Glorietta Activity Center. Hehehe! Wow! A Meet and Greet with us?! Why?! Are we even meet and greet material?! In all honesty, I felt kawawa naman yung girl if we just meet&greet her and she gets disappointed somehow na “Ay, sila lang pala? Nyek!” so I thought it would be nice to plan something extra just to make it worth their time and special enough for their anniversary. I enlisted the help of one of my favorite restos, Cafe 1771. I sent Vannah Santiago an email with the details of my little idea and within minutes the Cafe 1771 marketing team gave me the green light. I sent Sam a text (who at first didn’t believe it was me! hahaha!) and we planned the surprise for Bernice at Cafe 1771 for September 6.
We met Sam and Nice last Friday at the parking lot of Cafe 1771 and I was gushing over how Nice was actually gushing over me. Kinilig ako na kinilig sya! So this meet and greet was actually worth it! Hahahaha!!!:) She later said though that when Sam told her she was meeting someone, she thought to herself “Si Enchong Dee!!!!”. BWAHAHAHAHA! How funny! Well, medyo malayo ang level ko kay Enchong but I’m glad she was still very happy to see us! 🙂 🙂
Cafe 1771 went all out for this one!!! They prepared a special breakfast spread for the couple—and also for me and Patrick! Wow!!! Jackpot!:) It was so cute because they had their own table set up and we were in the next table..we looked like their manang/manong chaperones. We were joking them the whole time “Ops, ops! Bawal mag-holding hands!!!”. We ended up crashing their romantic date and it became a double date instead. They were such a fun loving couple, it was very easy for us to get to know them and spend the morning with them.
Cafe 1771’s breakfast repertoire was quite impressive, definitely living up to their rep of being THE Comfort Food Stop in Ortigas. The place was packed when we got there at 9AM so I’m glad they reserved seats for us. Because of it’s convenient location and inviting ambiance, it has become a favorite for breakfast business meetings, early bird get togethers, and in our case, the perfect romantic before work date place.
They let us sample all their best sellers—which certainly did not disappoint! My personal recommendations would be 1)The Caramelized Banana and Walnut Pancakes 2)Eggs Florentine with Salmon 3)Chicken and Pork Adobo and their chocolate cakes of course! Yes, you can have dessert for breakfast too, it’s a free country!!!
Sadly, we had to just eat and run because Patrick had to head back to the Fort to meet a client. How I wish we could’ve stayed longer to spend more time with the Sam and Nice, but it was still such a pleasure to meet these two. Again, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! May you continue to fall in love with each other and with Jesus 🙂 🙂 Thanks again so much CAFE 1771 for arranging everything for us!!! I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and thoughtfulness. And thanks to my husband for accompanying me (even if I know you had so many issues to deal with at work!) and being my breakfast date. Like I said, I was having a really crappy week—then this happened. And immediately, I was reminded of how truly blessed I am. Thank you Lord for speaking to me through this experience with Sam and Nice. 🙂
