Cocina Peruvia

Every time I get an invitation from Chef Him and his wife Kirt, I always make sure I clear my schedule and commit to EAT! Hahaha! 🙂 Chef Him is incredibly down to earth and a genius in the kitchen. He is also very versatile, working comfortably with different cuisines—from American to Korean and now, Peruvian! I’ve always wanted to travel to Peru but now that we have a tiny baby, we’ll have to put our Machu Picchu dreams on hold for now. Luckily, I can somehow travel with my tastebuds thanks to the newly opened COCINA PERUVIA. It is located along Rizal Drive in BGC. We brought along some old and new friends, Joey, Sitti, Oyo and Tin to join us for lunch. We ended our lunch with huge smiles and huge bellies! If you’re feeling a bit adventurous, I encourage you to give this resto a try. We tried A LOT that day, but here are the dishes that really stood out for me. 🙂 Thanks again to Chef Him for patiently walking us through each dish!

Causa con Avocado (Potatoes • Shrimp • Avocado • Aji amarillo • Yuzu • Mayonnaise)
It looks like a dessert but it’s actually a delicious savory appetizer. This was definitely strong starter for me!
Papa a la Huancaina (Potatoes • Micro greens • Huancaina sauce)
A vegetarian option for those who are trying to steer clear of meat. It’s sort of like the Peruvian alternative to nachos (minus the beef!).
Chupe de Pescado (Jack fish • Mussels • Potato • Corn • Cilantro • Aji amarillo)
Everyone’s favorite! This soup was so good, I wanted to order more! It has a bit of a kick–just the right amount of spice.
Adobo Peruvia (Pork belly • Onions)
This one was the clear winner for me!!! SARAP! Please make sure you order this!
Pollo a la Parrilla (Chicken • Corn • Chimichurri)
A classic Peruvian dish that goes so well with the next one on our list…the rice!
Arroz Verde con Pollo (Rice • Chicken • Cilantro)
This rice is a meal in itself! Heavy and filling, the perfect compliment for all the dishes!
Panna Cotta (Sweet corn panna cotta • White corn • Polenta crisps • Corn muffin)
Creatively plated, this panna cotta number is subtle and not too sweet. I really enjoyed this light dessert.
Alfajores (Dulce de leche • Alfajores • Ice cream)
I could eat this all day! This deconstructed Alfajores is really worth trying.
