For days, my instagram feed was buzzing with posts about Mateo’s which piqued my interest all the more. This small and homey restaurant along N Domingo (just a few blocks away from Robinsons Magnolia) is quickly becoming a crowd favorite. A lot raved about the home cooked Spanish-Filipino dishes while others marveled at how pretty the restaurant was in person. I’ll be honest, this restaurant is considered “FAR, FAR, FAR AWAY” for a Southern girl like me but because I was so enticed by all the reviews I was seeing from online friends, I knew I just had to purposefully plan a visit to Mateo’s..kahit malayo, sige lang!!! All for the love of good food!! So when it was time to plan the baby shower for our Thirty Six-O ladies, Marge and Aileen (who are both expecting girls!!!), Mateo’s was the first restaurant that came into mind. It was like hitting two birds with one stone—1) It was the perfect private venue that would fit our Spring Flowers theme 2) I would finally be able to experience Mateo’s after drooling over all those tempting posts!!! Hindi kinaya ng low EQ ko! Hahaha!P1340430

I can’t even begin to express how thrilled I am for these two!!!!

I asked Lala and Margaux, the sweethearts behind Mateo’s to help me plan an intimate gathering for our office peeps to celebrate the coming of the 2 babies and they happily obliged. And to make it even more special, Sarah Abano of WITH A FLOURISH  ( came on board and took charge of styling. I wish I could take credit for all this but truth is, I didn’t lift a finger!!! They took care of all the details and made it super stress free for this frazzled working mama. We even had free entertainment c/o Lala’s adorable son! What a funny little guy! Hahaha! Mateo’s is already so beautiful on its own but Sarah’s styling made the celebration feel even more personal as she added a lot of feminine touches around the resto. Our preggy ladies Marge and Aileen really felt so loved on that day and it’s all because of your time and efforts! You girls are angels!!! 🙂

If you’re planning a baby/bridal shower, a birthday party, or even a despedida de soltera for about 40 persons or less, this place is ideal! It’s cozy and comfortable and with the garden as a backdrop, it’s incredibly photogenic!  Just tell them your budget and they can come up with a menu that will be perfect for your occasion. For this merienda session we had Spinach Mushroom Quesadillas (a strong starter), Bagnet Sliders (I WANT THIS NOW!!!!), Seafood Caprese Pasta (i loved this too!), Mini Tacos, Osso Buco (this was amazing!!!!), Salmon with Black Ink Risotto (eye candy!), and Beef Salpicao (comfort food win!). And for dessert we had a super pretty and yummy lemon cake and mini cupcakes with Yema, Tablea, and Marshmallow icing 🙂 Tita Grace, you have a new fan in me!!! Your food was fantastic! I am definitely going to brave the traffic for more of your home cooked gems!!! SARAP!

The former pre-school teachers turned slashies! Hahaha 🙂

I really fell in love with the garden in the city vibe of this restaurant!P1340441The glowing mamas to be! We are so excited for Marge and Aileen! Thanks to our friends MUSTELA and MOTHER K for showering our moms with these gifts!! We really appreciate your generosity 🙂

  2. That 2nd to the last photo is major *tripple heart eyes emoticon*. Why so pretty, Patty? But you know what? I follow you not for your external looks but for that beautiful and genuine heart and soul that you have.
