Mom’s Day Out

“What you want to do. What you think you should do. What you think you can do.” Often times, these three metrics seem to be at odds with each other in my life. When the stars do align and all 3 conditions are met though, it seems like finding a unicorn in a herd of zebras! So rare a find that it would come maybe once or twice a year! Hahaha! But that’s just the thing, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I can’t HAVE IT ALL–something’s gotta give at one point and you’ll just have to make your peace with the decisions you’ve made as a mother, a wife, and a working woman.

There’s something so liberating and HUMBLING about the act of letting go. When you willingly release one aspect of your life to make room for something of more importance—you are giving yourself more breathing room, more space to move, more allowance for mistakes and adjustments. There’s no such thing as achieving that perfect balance, life is designed to be imperfect, unpredictable and uncontrollable. But what you can control, what is within your reach is your attitude towards everything. And having a positive and flexible attitude can make all the difference. I need to keep reminding myself about this, I HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO and A LOOOOOT TO LEARN! By God’s grace, I’m slowly finding my groove each day and realizing that “Hey, I’m actually ALRIGHT!”.

And this is WHY I have consciously and actively invested my own personal well-being—-still a work in progress, I am yoyo-ing because I love my Choice Mallows too much HAHAHA, but I believe in the value of self-care. More than just looking good and being physically fit, we also need to invest in our emotional and mental health as well. These are equally important and can really change the dynamics at home! When Mama is happy, fulfilled, and content with life—it will have an amazing effect in the way she deals with her children and husband too. Everything is interconnected. When I feel like I’m burning out, I would go out for merienda with my girlfriends and it would do wonders for my soul. Or if I’m getting frustrated about something at work, I’ll ask my husband to watch a movie with me and it changes my perspective on things. If I’m having a blaaaaahhh day (which happens a lot!), I’ll get a pedicure or a blow-dry and it’ll put me in a better mood instantly!

Moms need to be able to care for themselves and fill their lives with happy things (both big or small)so they too can pour it out on their children. It’s been said a thousand times but it takes courage to make it a reality– You can’t give when you’re running on empty! This is why Sunlife’s MOMMY’S DAY OUT perfectly captures the heart of a busy mom. A mom who is constantly trying to do her best for her family. The mom who is thinking about other people ALL THE TIME and often time forgets to think about herself. HUGOT!  Whether you’re a working mom or a stay-at-home mom, we all go through extreme challenges and have equal struggles. And SUNLIFE celebrates the superhero moms like you and me 🙂 Watch the video HERE and CRY!!! HAHAHA!
