The Pats PLUS One

Patrick and I are delighted to share the good news with all of YOU, we are having a BABY!!!!! You guys have been journeying with us for years, I just wanted to celebrate this new milestone along with you. I am entering my 14th week already and I’m just overjoyed, overwhelmed, over-napped (HAHA) πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ By July, this silly klutz will actually become a momma! Can you believe it? Well, I STILL CAN’T!!! I still don’t have a proper bump to show the world, but when it does decide to make itself known believe me people—I’m gonna rock this bump like it’s nobody’s business! Im-a-BUMP BUMP BUMP it all day, everyday for the next 6 months. Oh yeah! I don’t know what my last sentence means exactly, it’s like some thug took over the keyboard and typed some gibberish and I sort of just rode along. Hahahahahaha! Must be my hormones acting up!

I’m loving all the attention I’ve been getting. My parents, my in laws, our best friends— everyone’s been so wonderfully supportive. Everyone seems to be nicer, sweeter, and more doting when you’re pregnant. It’s like I could get away with murder and people would still be like “Awwwww, how many weeks ka na???”. HAHAHA! Patrick is always looking at me so lovingly and all smitten-ed up, it’s starting to seriously freak me out (okay, not really–I LOVE IT!). He keeps sniffing me and smiling at me, like I’m a cute little puppy or something. Maybe when you get pregnant you give off some honey bee pheromones that entice your husband all the more “Look at me, baby…buzzzzz..buzzz..want some of my sweet honey..uhuh..” But yes, I’m just as smitten these days. There’s something so incredibly romantic about starting a family with someone you’re crazy in love with. I always thought it was just people being OA, but it really is TRUE! You become so giddy over the littlest things!Β Si Patrick ata pinaglilihian ko!Β I just like being near him all the time, hence, my extra clinginess these days. Hahaha. I’m in physical agony whenever he’s away for work—like a craving for mangga’t bagoong or TAHO that you just need to satisfy! Para akong washed up on shore starfish sa kama pag wala siya “COME HOME!!!!”.

Speaking of cravings, I’ve been mad about FRUITS! So much so that my friends Stella and Sheila have jokingly named our baby FRUITO FILART. Hahahaha! Please, let that NOT be the child’s name! Kawawa naman anak ko! I love mangoes, bananas, oranges, apples, grapes, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, pears, guava, fruit fruit fruit! I remember my FRUIT MADNESS was at an all time high while we were in Paris. When I passed by the market, I noticed a bunch of lychees and my hormones just went out of whack. I pleaded and begged my husband “Pleaaaaaase. I need those lychees in MY LIFE or I’ll die!!!!!!!! The BABY needs them lychees!!!!!” (OA na OA lang with puppy dog eyes!) Eventually he gave in and purchased the lychees at…drumroll please, 900 pesos!!! GAAAAKKK!!! You can imagine his face after. Hahahaha! Man, I ate those lychees like it was the Apocalypse! I inhaled the whole bunch in one sitting! Hahahaha!

This baby is indeed a testament of how perfect God’s timing is. When we got engaged, Patrick and I had a whole timeline plotted out. We thought we could maneuver through marriage on our own terms, calling the shots and being in control: Get married at this time, go on a honeymoon, save up, have a baby, etc etc etc. Boy, we were so wrong. That “PLAN” we thought we could pursue didn’t manifest in the exact same order that we anticipated. We learned the hard way that life doesn’t always pan out the way you want it to. No matter how hard you try to keep things in order, even if you’re responsible and committed, even if you prepare as much as you can for any possible scenario—you can never really plot out the perfect game plan and timeline. It’s only in surrendering COMPLETELY to the Lord’s will and HIS TIMING, that you’ll find the path to a happy and fulfilled life. Sounds like a quote you’ll find in a hallmark card right, but believe me it’s truer than true. In our 2 years of marriage, we’ve mastered the art of flexibility and because of this, it has allowed us to discover so many new and exciting things—things we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to explore had we been too rigid or too determined to just stick to the “plan”.Β I had some health issues which put things on hold and jumbled things up, we encountered challenges at work and in our personal lives—but instead of taking us completely off course, these little detours actually led us to new and exciting roads. The time spent waiting on the Lord did not go to waste as we were able to travel the world, expand our company, improve our respective crafts, meet new people, invest in personal relationships, and best of all we were able to fall deeper in love with Christ through all this. In God’s sweet and perfect time, HE shaped me and Pat not only as a couple but individually as well. We are at this point right now, not by our own might, but all because HE led us here…slowly, but surely. I don’t think we’ll ever be fully prepared for parenthood but I do know that 1)I have the best teammate EVURRRR. High five, Patrick. 2)That the Lord will reveal new things through this experience and will equip us for the road ahead. We’re gonna WOW them all with our MAD Mommy/Daddy skilllzzzzzzz!!!! Okay, maybe we won’t be the mostΒ perfect parents in the world and we’ll screw up a lot for sure (sorry baby!), but we’ll have a ton of fun and we promise to make it feel like a new adventure every single day!

To our family and friends, and to you my darling readers, who have been praying for us—THANK YOU! You have no idea how wonderful it feels to be enveloped by all your well wishes and prayers. Thank you so much for hoping and wishing along with us! This is it, guys!!!

PS. One of my dearest friends, Kelly Misa-Fernandez, is preggy too!!! We’re actually just a few days apart—we might even give birth the same week. How incredible is that?!?! It’s been wonderful going through this milestone with Kelly. We’ve been texting each other our favorite food discoveries and other preggy issues. It’s like we’re classmates in Mommy School! Hahahaha! Imagine, our kids are going to be instant buddies!Β Please pray that we will both have safe and healthy babies πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Been reading your blog right around the same time you got married. I loved your wedding video, made me cry.

Please consider buying organic fruit and veggies, that’s one thing I wish I did because organic goodies have more nutrients as a result of not being sprayed with pesticides.

Also, add fiber in your diet with flax seed because they’re a good source of omega 3 which our bodies convert to dha (important component of breast milk)

Just sharing some things from my experience, there’s more pa sana but this is your blog.hahaha. Have a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery. God bless you!

  56. Second time to post a comment, first was when you got married and now you’re going to be a mom! Congratulations Pats! I am a silent fan. πŸ™‚

  57. and the “baby boom” continues! πŸ™‚ last year, i put aside my planner and just rode along the things that came my way, our way. and truly, it is when you let Jesus take the wheel (parang kanta lang?) that you discover that His plans are better than ours! πŸ™‚ I gave birth to Psalm Kazue, a precious baby girl last year (na 2 years in the making). haha! πŸ™‚
I am happy for u, girl. and i look forward to reading incredible events on your journey to mommyhood. congrats! πŸ™‚

  58. Hi Patty!

Congrats! Just a word of warning – easy on the fruits! I went wild also with fruits during my pregnancy (rambutan, esp.) and I got gestational diabetes. So even if they’re a healthier option than other snacks, ingat ingat lang. They can also be high in sugar… lychees, especially! Moderation. πŸ˜‰

  59. Hi Patty!

I also got married in 2012 and is an avid reader of your blog even before you got married. It also took us 2 years to became pregnant. I’m on my 20th week now. And I surely can relate to your stories. I also have health issues right after getting married (Gyne thing as well!) But it was when you say about “”COMPLETELY SURRENDERING to the Lord’s will”, coz that’s what we also did. I engaged myself to running, enrolled myself to the gym, even planning to go on my master’s degree. I was hesitant before in doing these activities, thinking I might get pregnant. But when I completely surrender in His will, that is when He gave us our little precious baby. I am getting teary-eyed now. I am just so happy for you and Patrick!

    Cheers to us moms-to-be!

  60. Congrats Patty and Mr Filart! You’re story is such a blessing. I’ve been addicted to your blog since last year. Your God written love story is such an inspiration. You and Kelly will have safe pregnancy, successful delivery and healthy baby.

  61. Congratulations Patty and Patrick!!! I’m among maaaaaany of your blog and IG fans that are just DELIGHTED with your news! We’re almost a year married now and are planning to start a family of our own. But like you shared, we will surely welcome and give way to His plans for us as well.

Can’t wait to hear about your experiences as you journey along the family way (corny ba?!). For sure everyone would want to hear about your preggo habits, food- and product recommendations now that you are expecting.

    Cheers! God bless!

  62. Hi Patty!! I am so happy for this great news. Indeed God is good. πŸ™‚ I believe you and Patrick are going to be a cool parents. Being married for less than a year now and that’s the desire also of my heart but I also believe in God’s timing. Yey! Congrats again! πŸ™‚

  63. Victory P&F is over and this is what I hear within me, “Go and read what’s on top of Patty Laurel’s blog during your train ride to work.” Whuuut? I am not even a regular here or to anyone’s blog! Anyway, just be faithful with the little things. I didn’t expect Miss Patty to be so cheery & “kalog” (did I use that in the proper context. Not sure.) in her blogging style. Very cute. Hahaha. Congratulations Miss Patty & may you enjoy this preggy journey πŸ™‚ I am engaged and in this season of prepping for the transition. Your blog entry is definitely a good reminder that even if I go obsessive-compulsive over “the plan” our own strength wouldn’t be enough to make it in life. Your blog has set a realistic expectation in life that God is the only one who is in control. Blessed are the flexible. I think I will be a regular tambay here πŸ™‚

  64. Congrats! Sounds like you’re going to have a baby girl because of your fruit cravings πŸ™‚ I remember being pregnant at the same time with 3 colleagues and they all craved for fruits while I craved for meat. They all have baby girls now and I have a boy! πŸ™‚ Enjoy your pregnancy and always take extra care of yourself!

  65. Yay! Congratulations!! Have a healthy pregnancy! Ahhhh, your future ThePats videos would contain so much cuteness! Haha. I’m excited! πŸ™‚
God bless your family Ms. Patty. πŸ™‚

  66. I am so happy for you! You know I named my baby Patty too because I like you so much. Her real name is Patrice Elle. God bless your family!

  67. Congratulations to “the Pats” πŸ™‚
May you have a healthy and easy pregnancy as well.

Great to know that one of the couples I admire are also expecting like us on our first.

    BLESS YOU πŸ˜‰

  68. WOW!!! This is just good news!!! i’m super happy for you as if a relative or a very close friend just delivered the news! have a safe pregnancy! πŸ™‚ <3 <3 <3

  69. Congratulations Ms. Patty and Sir Patrick!!! I am soooo super duper happy for both you! We’re sooo excited to see your little bunch of happiness.. πŸ™‚ Godbless!

  70. I’ve heard the news via Instagram but I haven’t had the time to read through your blog until tonight. Believe me, The Pats, when I say that my heart is filled with so much joy when I heard this great blessing that the Lord has bestowed upon you. I’m an avid reader and Instagram stalker (haha!) and I really feel like we were on this journey with you guys. I pray that you have a safe delivery and a healthy baby. May you mold your child(ren) to be God-loving individuals. Ay basta! I’m sending virtual hugs, kisses, love, prayers to you! Congratulations!

  71. Congrats Patty! I have been reading your blog on and off but have been constantly snooping on your life via Instagram. I am so happy for you and Patrick. God’s timing is really it and we too are waiting for our little one to be given to us too.

Hope to see more of your posts and will be looking forward to see the BUMP-a-BUMP-a-BUMP! πŸ™‚

It is indeed a lifeswitch! πŸ™‚

  72. Congratulations Ms. Patty! I hope my greeting’s not late, though. Stay pretty and humble. God bless your little family.

P.S Keep inspiring us Ms. Pat, I really love the way you look at life. Wow, you just make me smile a lot πŸ™‚

    –> happy fan here

  77. Hi Ms. Patty! Congratulations to you & Patrick. I don’t know why pero I just found out this morning that you’re pregnant. I follow you on IG pero siguro di ako nagcheck ng previous post & when I see your pictures naman kasi parang normal clothes pa rin naman suot mo kaya never ko naisip na you’re pregnant na.hehe..
BTW, I’m also pregnant 20weeks & 1 day to be exact & due date ko rin sa July. Me & my husband got married last January 2012 kaya almost 3 years namin inantay si baby & it’s really the best gift from God. When the OB/sonologist confirmed that I was really pregnant & not just a chemical pregnancy like the 1st time I got a positive PT back in April2012, I can’t explain what I’m feeling. I’m crying & smiling at the same time. =)
During the times that I had a difficulty to conceive (I have PCOS kasi) & when I look at your pictures at IG & still look happy kahit wala pa rin baby, I felt na hindi ako nag-iisa. You gave me hope na married couple w/o a child could still be a called a complete family. =)
Like you, I’m also thankful to those people who prayed for us to have our own baby.. And maybe, nakulitan na si God kaya binigyan na Niya tayo.hehe, joke lang..
    Have a safe pregnancy.. =)

  78. Hello Patty! As I was scrolling down on my IG, I saw your post and I’ve been following you for a very long time since my colleague loves you so much *shoutout to Noreen Kyamko*. LOL! I was thrilled even more when I found out that you’re pregnant and I instantly looked for your announcement blog or something even familiar. I’m happy soooper! You were so right that God has a perfect timing for everything because my husband and I were boyfriend and girlfriend for 7 years now and we started living together 4 years ago, and I recently got pregnant; however, I had a miscarriage after. It was a huge event in my life but somehow it was taken again. I was sad and felt that I was responsible for it but I know God has plans and in time he’ll give me a baby soon.

    Again, congratulations! Yipee!

  79. Hi mommy Patty!:) I cant help but comment in this blogpost. I have been an avid reader ever since your old blog. I also emailed you omce on your influence on our praying habits with husband (2012 entitled thank you). I am beyond happy for u and your family. Like you, it took us two years before having a baby. After a lot of stress and medications , our baby Anya finally came. I have always prayed for u and all other friends who wants a baby. It took us two years in Gods perfect time. We strengthened our faith, got educated with business, got promoted in our careers.. our God is always a loving God. It is always on his perfect timing. Right now my baby is 16months old and healthy. Better things cane along and opportunities pour nonstop. I wish you well in your pregnancy. Im pretty sure you’ll be an awesome mother! πŸ™‚
