Patrick and I are delighted to share the good news with all of YOU, we are having a BABY!!!!! You guys have been journeying with us for years, I just wanted to celebrate this new milestone along with you. I am entering my 14th week already and I’m just overjoyed, overwhelmed, over-napped (HAHA) 🙂 🙂 By July, this silly klutz will actually become a momma! Can you believe it? Well, I STILL CAN’T!!! I still don’t have a proper bump to show the world, but when it does decide to make itself known believe me people—I’m gonna rock this bump like it’s nobody’s business! Im-a-BUMP BUMP BUMP it all day, everyday for the next 6 months. Oh yeah! I don’t know what my last sentence means exactly, it’s like some thug took over the keyboard and typed some gibberish and I sort of just rode along. Hahahahahaha! Must be my hormones acting up!
I’m loving all the attention I’ve been getting. My parents, my in laws, our best friends— everyone’s been so wonderfully supportive. Everyone seems to be nicer, sweeter, and more doting when you’re pregnant. It’s like I could get away with murder and people would still be like “Awwwww, how many weeks ka na???”. HAHAHA! Patrick is always looking at me so lovingly and all smitten-ed up, it’s starting to seriously freak me out (okay, not really–I LOVE IT!). He keeps sniffing me and smiling at me, like I’m a cute little puppy or something. Maybe when you get pregnant you give off some honey bee pheromones that entice your husband all the more “Look at me, baby…buzzzzz..buzzz..want some of my sweet honey..uhuh..” But yes, I’m just as smitten these days. There’s something so incredibly romantic about starting a family with someone you’re crazy in love with. I always thought it was just people being OA, but it really is TRUE! You become so giddy over the littlest things! Si Patrick ata pinaglilihian ko! I just like being near him all the time, hence, my extra clinginess these days. Hahaha. I’m in physical agony whenever he’s away for work—like a craving for mangga’t bagoong or TAHO that you just need to satisfy! Para akong washed up on shore starfish sa kama pag wala siya “COME HOME!!!!”.
Speaking of cravings, I’ve been mad about FRUITS! So much so that my friends Stella and Sheila have jokingly named our baby FRUITO FILART. Hahahaha! Please, let that NOT be the child’s name! Kawawa naman anak ko! I love mangoes, bananas, oranges, apples, grapes, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, pears, guava, fruit fruit fruit! I remember my FRUIT MADNESS was at an all time high while we were in Paris. When I passed by the market, I noticed a bunch of lychees and my hormones just went out of whack. I pleaded and begged my husband “Pleaaaaaase. I need those lychees in MY LIFE or I’ll die!!!!!!!! The BABY needs them lychees!!!!!” (OA na OA lang with puppy dog eyes!) Eventually he gave in and purchased the lychees at…drumroll please, 900 pesos!!! GAAAAKKK!!! You can imagine his face after. Hahahaha! Man, I ate those lychees like it was the Apocalypse! I inhaled the whole bunch in one sitting! Hahahaha!
This baby is indeed a testament of how perfect God’s timing is. When we got engaged, Patrick and I had a whole timeline plotted out. We thought we could maneuver through marriage on our own terms, calling the shots and being in control: Get married at this time, go on a honeymoon, save up, have a baby, etc etc etc. Boy, we were so wrong. That “PLAN” we thought we could pursue didn’t manifest in the exact same order that we anticipated. We learned the hard way that life doesn’t always pan out the way you want it to. No matter how hard you try to keep things in order, even if you’re responsible and committed, even if you prepare as much as you can for any possible scenario—you can never really plot out the perfect game plan and timeline. It’s only in surrendering COMPLETELY to the Lord’s will and HIS TIMING, that you’ll find the path to a happy and fulfilled life. Sounds like a quote you’ll find in a hallmark card right, but believe me it’s truer than true. In our 2 years of marriage, we’ve mastered the art of flexibility and because of this, it has allowed us to discover so many new and exciting things—things we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to explore had we been too rigid or too determined to just stick to the “plan”. I had some health issues which put things on hold and jumbled things up, we encountered challenges at work and in our personal lives—but instead of taking us completely off course, these little detours actually led us to new and exciting roads. The time spent waiting on the Lord did not go to waste as we were able to travel the world, expand our company, improve our respective crafts, meet new people, invest in personal relationships, and best of all we were able to fall deeper in love with Christ through all this. In God’s sweet and perfect time, HE shaped me and Pat not only as a couple but individually as well. We are at this point right now, not by our own might, but all because HE led us here…slowly, but surely. I don’t think we’ll ever be fully prepared for parenthood but I do know that 1)I have the best teammate EVURRRR. High five, Patrick. 2)That the Lord will reveal new things through this experience and will equip us for the road ahead. We’re gonna WOW them all with our MAD Mommy/Daddy skilllzzzzzzz!!!! Okay, maybe we won’t be the most perfect parents in the world and we’ll screw up a lot for sure (sorry baby!), but we’ll have a ton of fun and we promise to make it feel like a new adventure every single day!
To our family and friends, and to you my darling readers, who have been praying for us—THANK YOU! You have no idea how wonderful it feels to be enveloped by all your well wishes and prayers. Thank you so much for hoping and wishing along with us! This is it, guys!!!
PS. One of my dearest friends, Kelly Misa-Fernandez, is preggy too!!! We’re actually just a few days apart—we might even give birth the same week. How incredible is that?!?! It’s been wonderful going through this milestone with Kelly. We’ve been texting each other our favorite food discoveries and other preggy issues. It’s like we’re classmates in Mommy School! Hahahaha! Imagine, our kids are going to be instant buddies! Please pray that we will both have safe and healthy babies 🙂 🙂
